• Spanning 40 years (1961 - 2001) the author internationally traded in a wide variety of raw material industrial chemicals.  These were sourced from across the globe. Industries we supplied included manufacturers of domestic household cleaners, polishes and detergents, hospital disinfectants, and personal care toiletries and cosmetics.

• From Germany for e.g. we sourced costly phenolics .. (note that phenol and cresol - used in disinfectants - can be corrosive, can cause diarrhea, fainting, dizziness, and kidney and liver damage) .. powerful biocides for use in adhesives, inks, rubber, concrete admixtures, gasoline, automotive greases, leather tanning, textile chemicals, and paints.

• In many cases these same raw materials were formulated into everyday household cleaners, detergents, personal care items and cosmetics !

• From our corporate experiences we always knew we needed to do something about our personal shopping habits (understanding the hazardous nature of the front end products we were importing) particularly when our first baby came along, but we had no other option than the usual retailed brands, many of which were frighteningly poisonous.

• In the last 3 years a friend phoned and said they'd found a new store of safer more economical products, home delivered and they'd love for us to become a customer too.

• After trialing the products ourselves we'd ended up telling a few friends and a couple of weeks later we received a cheque in the mail.  Seems we'd unconsciously worked a business from home without having to sell anything to anyone ..

Even Dioxin came accross our bows ..

• One (highly carcinogenic) impurity was Dioxin which was a feared component under review by our German biocide principals who went to considerable lengths to disprove its existence in certain of their bacto-protection agents.

• These biocides are commonly found in many industrial products and household comsumable and personal care toiletries available in retail supermarkets.

• It clearly was a revelation for us to discover a suite of safe home and personal care products based on natural Tea Tree Oil where we need have no such concerns regarding the safety of our family and children - or the environment.

(One of the most lethal chemicals known to science - dioxins are light years away from the organic safety of the natural every day consumables we use today).

• These phenolic biocides also found their way into ..
.. dental composites, citrus fruit preservatives, household cleaning items, cosmetics, personal care toiletries, skin care products, hospital disinfectants, detergents etc.

• A number of them were highly irritant, corrosive and toxic and clearly identified as such under their requisite warning labels. They frequently demanded special documentation, storage, safety permits, HAZCHEM compliance and government poisons licencing.

So we became aware - as we applied our knowledge to family home safety reconciling complaints of unexplained head aches, coughs, rashes, chest pains and fatigue - suffered clearly in the family home - with out any industrial work place exposure at all ..
