I agree and you are absolutely correct. The following may be helpful ..

Of course we don't drink pure Tea Tree Oil ("TTO") any more than you'd drink insect repellent. However if you (or any child) ingests any of these products formulated on TTO you / they might bubble a bit both ends but the experience is unlikely to be fatal. I'm reasonably familiar with common essential oils as I imported many in bulk for some 40 years.
 
"T36C5" TTO as the active ingredient in these every day and personal care products with revenue of approx. $US860m p.a. We have no record of a single fatality from either use or ingestion of even our most powerful cleaners. Your supermarket is selling you over priced products which are primarily perfumed, coloured, thickened toxic water. In Australia we have the Therapeutic Goods Administration and in the US it's the Food and Drug Administration. They administer pretty stiff regulation demanding onerous compliance in order to not have for e.g. child protection caps on household products. There's none on ours.
